Core Beliefs
Hillside Church leans toward the Reformed, Reformation Tradition. We believe in the complete inspiration and infallibility of God’s Word, in the sovereignty of God, and that redemption is found only through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in Biblical preaching, preeminently expository preaching. We believe that communion should be served every Sunday, and that worship should be orderly, yet warm. We believe in supporting missionaries around the world. We believe in the power of prayer. We believe in the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and in the any minute return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe the goal of the Christian life is to “know Christ in the power of His resurrection” in an ever-deepening relationship; and we believe in doing the work of an evangelist. We affirm the historic creeds of the Protestant Church, particularly the great Westminster Confession of Faith. We are grateful for the Magisterial Reformers and the Puritan Divines who forever settled the great truths of scripture in the Reformation Tradition. We believe in praying for the sick, loving one another, and being good stewards of all of our gifts. We are grace based as a church, and non-legalistic. The only burden of the Pastors and the church leadership, is to help all who attend, or who listen to our sermons on Facebook and the website, to love Christ, and to grow in their knowledge of Him. While we are not perceived as being a charismatic church, we nevertheless believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and encourage all to find their gifting, to move in it, and to be wise in the disposition of their gifts for the edification of the body.
